Inaugural NCAA Youth Clinic a Success

The Belk Bowl, Charlotte 49ers, and NCAA hosted free youth football clinic

The Belk Bowl, in conjunction with the Charlotte 49ers and the NCAA, hosted a free youth football clinic at the Northeast Recreational Fields Complex on Saturday, July 23. Approximately 150 youngsters, ages 5-14, participated in a morning clinic with skill-stations manned by area high school and college coaches including new UNCC Head Football Coach Brad Lambert.

Stations included drills such as fielding kicks, three-point stance, passing to a target and proper tackling. Each child received a T-shirt and various promotional materials regarding football action in the Charlotte community. There was also a raffle for prizes including video games and mini UNC Charlotte helmets.

The clinic is part of the NCAA football program’s mission to promote the game. This inaugural event for both UNCC football and the Belk Bowl was a tremendous success for all. Good job.
