What We Know After Week Two

A brief postscript.

For the second week in a row an ACC squad defeated their SEC opponent validating the strength of teams and schedule in the Atlantic Coast Conference while the AAC troops are wrestling with who will be runner-up to favorite, Louisville. Here’s a brief postscript:

  • Even with a salty defense, UVA (1-1) can’t stop a #2 Oregon juggernaut (except on 3rd-down conversions holding the Ducks to 3 of 10)
  • Clemson’s offense (2-0) is prolific but the secondary remains a question mark
  • Miami (2-0)’s defense is pesky and opportunistic
  • Virginia Tech (1-1) has a nasty D but the offense needs to figure things out quickly
  • Wake Forest (1-1) has the turnover blues
  • Maryland (2-0) has a POTENT offense with QB C.J. Brown, WR Stefon Diggs and RB’s Brandon Ross and Albert Reid
  • NCState (2-0) has a rookie wide-out named Marquez Valdes-Scantling who is an impact player
  • Syracuse (0-2) needs an easier schedule until a reliable QB is identified
  • Duke (2-0) can win on the road in the 4th qtr
  • Boston College (2-0) has a savvy defense and a 1-2-3 punch on offense with QB Chase Rettig and WR Alex Amidon supported by RB Andre Williams
  • UNC (1-1) QB Bryn Renner is one of the best long-ball tossers in the nation but the defense needs to kick it up a notch
  • GT idle
  • FSU idle

  • Louisville’s (2-0) Heisman front-runner, QB Teddy Bridgewater, continues to shock and awe with 397 yards and 4 TD’s
  • Cincinnati (1-1) needs a case of antacids after losing QB Munchie Legaux to a serious leg injury while being steamrolled by Illinois
  • Houston (2-0) racks up yards but needs to be more consistent in the red zone held to 5 FG’s after 8 trips on Saturday
  • USF (2-0), where’s your offense? Better find one
  • UCF (2-0) has QB Blake Bortles who’s got an arm, great instincts and self-assurance that carries the day
  • Rutgers (1-1) DOES have offensive firepower
  • SMU (1-1) can execute a drive when the game’s on the line
  • Memphis (0-1) needs their redshirt frosh QB to grow up fast
  • Temple (0-2), winless, has got to find a way to beat ranked opponents falling to 2-76
